Winter Super D
A Message from Event Director Matt Adams
|
The Brushy Mountain Cyclists Club is hosting a three race winter Super D series. This series is going to be extremely basic, with the main goal of having fun and just getting out there and racin' during the winter months. Points will be maintained for each category in order to crown series champions.
Special thanks to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for allowing the use of public land for trail development and racing at the lake. The USACE has allotted numerous acres of land for trail development. Since November 2002, BMCC has led the development of more than 20 miles of singletrack at W. Kerr Scott Dam & Reservoir with additional trail being developed each month. Click here for more information on our trail building efforts and how you can help.
I'd also like to thank the Wilkesboro Tourism Development Authority and various local businesses for their continued support of BMCC's trail development efforts in Wilkes County.

If highway conditions are too bad, the race for that particular weekend will be rescheduled. A decision will be made by 12 Noon on the Friday before the event and posted on the BMCC forum
All three races will take place on the trail network at Dark Mountain. We are reviewing different options in order to have a different course for each of the three races. If this ends up not being an option, then the current course will be utilized.
Take N.C. 268 west from Wilkesboro. Three miles past U.S. 421, turn right at the large W. Kerr Scott Dam & Reservoir sign onto Reservoir Road. Follow Reservoir Road across W. Kerr Scott Dam and turn left at the flagpole. The parking area is at the end of the driveway down the dam. Click here for directions to Kerr Scott from out of town.

Racers will leave at one minute increments. The best of two runs format will be utilized unless it is raining or if the course is so slick that multiple runs would cause excess erosion. If this happens, the Super D will be a single run format. This will be decided the day of the each individual event.
In order to maintain low entry fees, our awards will be limited. The top three finishers in individual categories will be awarded medals. The top three finishers in the overall series will also be awarded medals. As always, our budget is lean and tight. Any profits will be devoted to trail development and maintenance.
When placing reservations, be sure to mention that you're in town for the BMCC mountain bike race.
